Kirsters Baish| NFL players who choose to kneel during the anthem and blatantly disrespect the American flag and all who have fought for our freedom, have lost sight of what it means to be American.
Any coach, owner, or NFL executive who tries to defend the actions of these self-entitled multimillionaire athletes is doing themselves a disservice. There is something much deeper beneath these protests, and the scandal is much worse than we ever imagined.
The Capital Research Center has reported that the NFL Players Association has been donating tons of money to radical left-wing organizations. This Association is also an affiliate of the major left-wing employee union AFL-CIO. One cause that they have donated large amounts of money to is the “resistance” to Donald Trump’s presidency. They have been disguising this “cause” as a “charity.”
The conservative watchdog group called “2nd Vote” has come out to say that the NFLPA funds radical leftist groups, such as Center for Community Change (CCC), which is a group that advocates for complete amnesty for illegal aliens, along with Working America, which is a Big Labor organization which supports far-left “class consciousness.”
The Capital Research Center reported:
CCC’s 501(c)(4) “social welfare” arm, the Center for Community Change Action (CCCA), spent $3 million——on Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign last year. Working America, meanwhile, donated more than $4 million and knocked on 2.5 million doors on behalf of Clinton in battleground states.
The activism of NFLPA’s donation recipients has only continued since the 2016 election. They have actively mobilized so-called “grassroots” activists to resist the Trump presidency; in reality the bulk of their funding consists of large donations from a handful of well-connected leftist donors like Soros’ Open Societies Foundation. Deepak Bhargava, for instance, is the executive director of the Center for Community Change; he also sits on the Open Society Foundation’s advisory board.
Working America has mobilized opponents of Trump’s tax plan, calling it the “Trump tax scam.” CCC joined United We Dream—a Soros-sponsored, pro-amnesty campus organization—in nationwide immigration protests leading up to Trump’s inauguration in January. CCC has also actively its efforts with a plethora of other groups on the far-left to mobilize voters for the Democratic Party in the 2018 and 2020 elections.
In September, DeMaurice Smith (NFLPA executive director) along with NFLPA president Eric Winston launched a verbal attack on President Trump for making his stance on the anthem protests known. Anyone with half a brain already knew that their misleading statements were partisan, DEFINITELY not bipartisan. They didn’t just defend their players, but they chose to put President Trump on their enemies list.
It’s a good thing for Winston and Smith that they are members of the far-Left. The Left seems to accept moral anger towards the right. What you can take away from all of this is that we were left thinking the real scandal was the anthem protesting, but in reality the NFL is part of a billion-dollar entertainment business. They are getting FEDERAL subsidies for their arenas. The fact that the money taken from American taxpayers to fund these arenas also means that this money is supporting radical Left groups.
It’s time for all of this to change. The Daily Wire reported:
A spokesman from [Republican Senator James] Lankford’s office told The Daily Caller on Sunday that “in the last four weeks interest in the bill has picked up since both members proposed it four months ago.”
The two senators [Lankford and Democrat Senator Cory Booker] said that since 2000, 36 professional sports stadiums have been constructed or revamped under financing provided by federal tax-exempt municipal bonds, costing taxpayers over $3.2 billion. While sports team argue that stadium construction is for the good of the community, the senators say “there is no statistically significant positive correlation between sports facility construction and economic development.”
The true cost is more like $7 billion, reported Watchdog.org. “Overall, taxpayers have spent nearly $3 billion on the 16 stadiums that will host NFL games during the season’s opening weekend. And over the past couple of decades, we’ve given NFL teams nearly $7 billion total in aid for their stadiums.”
It’s no secret that Americans need to do everything they can in order to stop knowingly subsidizing and supporting the NFL. We should be boycotting going to games and watching games on television. We need to stop buying jerseys and doing anything and everything that even suggests our support for these ungrateful athletes. The scandal is obvious at this point. We can’t just sit back and let it happen on our dime.
